I’ve been so busy with my newest release, A Reluctant Santa, that I’ve forgotten to tell you about what’s coming next!

On our trip to Las Vegas in November, we scoured the city for photos and adventures we could gift to a pair of our characters. We created a (very) short story to give our readers a sample of the highly charged erotic world enjoyed by a fictional mid-life couple in the swing lifestyle.

Here are some of our favorite photos:

One of the places we’ve stayed sported a Lazy River, which we fell in love with. There are several more at other venues across the city. And no, we’re not going to be specific, either about where we stayed, or where we sent our fictional couple to stay!

Swinging Games: Hookups

We should add that first “dates” don’t always lead to play – often couples who’ve decided to meet plan a “meet and greet” first, to figure out if they’ll really want to get up close and personal. Fortunately for our couple, the answer this time is yes.

Trying to keep the obvious lust from his eyes, Brett nodded and smiled at Linda, who was eyeing him boldly over her wineglass. She sipped her wine and shuddered slightly as the liquid slid over her palate. Brett’s breathing tightened when she chuckled softly and set the glass down on the table.

“We’re glad you agreed to meet us on rather short notice.” Linda’s white teeth glistened and her dark eyes snapped. “Sometimes good things can come from cancellations.”

“That was lucky for us,” Brett said. “I can’t even recall the names of the couple that bailed on us. Pictures don’t do you guys justice.” He knew that must sound like a hackneyed line, but he meant every word. Even attired modestly in a blue blouse and black slacks, Linda projected that confident sexy air that never ceased to arouse him. She glowed a mixture of eroticism and exoticism that was nearly spellbinding.

He reached down and briefly squeezed his wife’s fingers, which had been doing a tap dance on his inner thigh—their sign that this was a couple with whom she wanted to play. Stifling a chuckle, he blew a kiss at her. They hadn’t even been served yet. Sometimes Jen could be quick with her judgments, but then there’d been little doubt since their first contact on the swing site that they’d want to play with the couple from Louisville. It still wasn’t clear if the chocolate-skinned female and her tanned husband would want to play with them, but Brett sure hoped so.

In a society that doesn’t value or take seriously the responsibility to teach about pleasure, many of us still derive our most profound understandings about our own sexuality on the hoof, in the street, on the prowl.”

The first thing that struck me as I read those words was that it’s what so many swingers tell us about the impact of swinging on their sex lives with each other. You might think that people who turn to swinging are sexually savvy and experienced already, and many are, but even so, in addition to the thrill of multiple partners, many are surprised that they discover nuances about their own sexuality and each other’s they weren’t aware of. Even more, they learn new activities, toys, and positions they haven’t thought to try.

We’ve spoken with swingers ranging from their thirties to their eighties. Their reasons for getting involved with the lifestyle vary, but almost universally, they report reaping so much more benefit than they ever anticipated, and they’re grateful (especially as they age) for the extra boost to their libidos and their enjoyment.

We began writing our Swinging Games series for similar reasons. In it, we follow a mid-life empty-nest baby-boomer couple who reach the decision to check out the swing lifestyle because the wife thinks she might be bisexual, but doesn’t want to leave her husband out of her sexual exploration. We’ve been writing fictional erotic romance adventures about couples who swing for over four years now – today, we thought we’d take our readers behind the scenes for real!

JJ’s Western Swing is a friendly, comfortable on-premise swing club located about an hour west of Las Vegas, in Pahrump, Nevada. Club hosts Jenny and Johnny offer parties in their private home – but don’t be fooled into thinking this is a small venue or that it might cramp your style. Their home is a spacious ranch on two and a half acres, surrounded by a privacy fence. There’s room inside the fence for up to three RV’s (electrical hook-up only), but be sure to make a specific RV reservation if this is an option you’ll need.

Inside the house, you’ll find a dance floor, juke box, a small stage with a stripper pole (and there will always be someone who pole-dances…), two private playrooms, an open playroom with a massage table and various restraint equipment, a full kitchen, buffet and dining area, and a couple smaller gathering spaces, with plenty of seating.

Outside there’s a swimming pool (open in season), a hot tub (usually year-round), a tiki bar, a fire pit, several bungalows for additional play rooms, and again, lots of seating. Towels and bathrobes are available by the hot tub, and also by the massage table. The bungalows have air conditioning and heating, comfortable beds, and space for storing overnight luggage for guests who’ve elected to spend the night.

How to dress? Any way you want! Some party-goers are in street clothes – jeans or shorts, tee-shirt or polo shirt, for example. Others wear sexy club clothes. There are no limits on what you may reveal, and it won’t be long before at least a few people are wearing no clothes at all. Sometimes there’s a theme, such as St. Patrick’s Day, or sexy lingerie, or Halloween. Themes will always be posted on the website.

The party usually gets started sometime between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. on a Saturday night, and the juke box plays as long as people are awake. There’s lots of opportunity for dancing, and anyone is welcome to take a turn at the pole, as well. A buffet supper is set out once the party gets going – excellent food, and plenty of it, traditional Irish corned beef and cabbage for St. Patrick’s Day, for example.

Splitting off in pairs or foursomes or more-somes may get started after 10:00 or 11:00. The only end-point for play is governed by whether the bungalow you’re playing in is reserved for a couple to spend the night – they’ll probably want you out of their space when they’re ready to sleep.

The morning-after party might get going between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m., with coffee and always a generous home-cooked brunch. Guests may lounge, play, use the pool or hot tub, dance some more, or just gather and chat, and the party will ultimately break up by mid-afternoon on Sunday.

Typical attendance at parties is anywhere from fifteen to twenty-five couples. Single women are welcomed, and select single men may attend by invitation only. There do appear to be a number of “regulars” who are often in attendance, but don’t let that put you off. This club is the polar opposite of cliquey. Both the hosts and the regulars go out of their way to help newcomers feel welcomed. The ambience is one of acceptance, and party-goers of a wide range of ages and body types enjoy the special benefits of friendship that come with being in the lifestyle. If you’ve never had a swing club experience, JJ’s Western Swing is a comfortable, relaxing and welcoming venue to get your toes wet.

Reservations: Check out their website at http://www.jjwesternswing.com/ for information on upcoming parties, and be sure to make a reservation. Parties are typically held monthly or more frequently, depending on the season. When you sign up, you’ll have an option of reserving an overnight stay and joining the morning after party – and if you didn’t reserve for overnight and change your mind after you arrive, there’ll probably be a way to make that work. If you’re an SLS member, you have the option of putting a JJ’s party icon on your profile and checking the list of who else is attending from SLS.

Cost: There is no standard cost to attend the party. Instead, party donations are used to offset the cost of hosting, and a portion of the donation is given to a local charity working with victims of abuse. Most couples who stay overnight and attend the brunch average about a thirty dollar donation. As with many swing clubs, drink set-ups are included, but party-goers are responsible to bring their own alcohol.

Location: The town of Pahrump is about sixty miles from the Las Vegas strip, a mostly easy drive over a well-maintained highway (Nevada State Rte. 160) with passing lanes in the mountainous section. The elevation at the pass is 5502 feet, so in winter months you’ll want to check for weather conditions if it’s raining in the valley, because it can snow at the pass. Sex Positivity

Consent, Pleasure, Well Being. The term Sex Positivity has been around for a while and can mean many different things to different people.

Lately I’ve been following blogger and Sex Educator Charlie Glickman, and I like his definition best of all. The only criteria for evaluating any sex act, he says, are consent, pleasure, and well being.

Being sex positive doesn’t mean that we love sex, or have lots of it, or think everyone should practice free love. In fact, it means we don’t judge what anyone else wants to practice – gay, straight, kinky, vanilla, monogamous, polyamorous or celibate – beyond those three cardinal parameters:

Is it consensual? Are all the parties adult, are they aware and informed about what they’re doing, and have they agreed? Is it pleasurable for the parties involved? Does it contribute to the well being of all who are involved? I am reminded of the Wiccan rede, An it harm none.

What does this have to do with the erotic romance my husband and I write? Right now, we’re polishing off another entry in our Swinging Games series at Extasy Books. In that series a married baby boomer couple have expanded their sexual practice to become part of the swing lifestyle. Being sex positive means we don’t judge them or their practice, so long as they agree it’s consensual, pleasurable and contributes to their well being. And, of course, we hope that reading about what they’re up to is consensual, pleasurable, and contributes to readers’ well being!

Don’t Waste Your Money!

Cruising the web last week to update buy links and review links for my back list, I ran across a reader’s review for the first book in our Swinging Games series at Extasy Books, Anticipation. Let me say first that, like most authors, I’ve developed a tough skin for negative reviews of our work. I’m not writing this blog to refute a negative review – everything this reader wrote is, in fact, true about this book. Here’s her one-star review:

 This is a short story about meeting another couple that they never actually meet. I read it in about 15 minutes. Don’t waste your money.

My husband and I write erotic romance together, mostly ménage, and mostly with heroines who are bisexual. We started writing our Swinging Games series about three years ago because we were fascinated by the Swing Lifestyle and thought it would be a fun device to deliver a wide range of ménage and other hot sex scenes for our readers. We created our lead characters – a Baby Boomer couple whose kids are grown. Brett and Jen Andrews have decided to try swinging to spice up their sex life, and because Jen has newly realized she’s bisexual.

Anticipation is a 5,000 word short story that sets the stage for the series. It drops in on our couple just before their first lifestyle encounter. We get to experience with them the delicious buildup of fantasies, expectations and sexual tension – not to mention the tantalizing impact of those fantasies when Jen and Brett make love, just the two of them.

So, if you only want to spend money on actual ménage, absolutely, don’t waste your money on this one – plunge right in anywhere in the series and taste the decadence with Jen and Brett in any number of swinging adventures.
