Time to Play!

Blogging about what we love

20150605Fremont StreetFreemont Street Any time I feel like I might be crazy or off the charts, The Fremont Street Experience sets my perspective to rights, so we always try to catch it when we come to Vegas. Usually we’re here on a weeknight – the crowds last night were so thick it was hard to see the impromptu acts along the sidelines. Or maybe just hard to distinguish the actors from the crowd! Gotta love Las Vegas.

Triple Crown Fever I may have to eat my words (it’s happened before) – I truly think this is the year of the Triple Crown. There’s always racing luck, but American Pharoah looks like he has what it takes to win the Belmont. Can’t be there this year (LOVED our trip to the Belmont Stakes in 2001), but you can bet we’ll be glued to the TV this afternoon and hoping!

Dancing Then we’ll top the evening off by going dancing. Did I mention we’ve been taking dance lessons all winter, twice a week most weeks? Time to put our moves on the dance floor in the city that never sleeps. Might sleep late in the morning though…

Focus #MFRWAuthor #Health

June 2, 2015 by Adriana Kraft

Stay healthy? Here’s hoping! As we’ve been evaluating our purpose and focusing our writing and marketing energies after our three month break, we recognized that our highest value, what we prize most in life, is health. It undergirds everything else. Without it, none of the things we value and enjoy are possible.

We work hard to stay healthy. We eat a balanced diet, use fresh foods, and avoid excessive sugars. We spend at least ten to fifteen hours a week in some form of exercise, including core strengthening, weights and aerobics. We exercise our brains through staying curious, studying new things that interest us, traveling, learning new dances, working puzzles and playing brain games. No matter how hard we’re working, we take breaks, relax, get out and enjoy nature, and just chill. And yes, having hot sex is on that list.

When we were younger, I think we were more likely to take health for granted. Well into the second half of our lives, we know it’s a precious resource. We’re passionate about this, and we’ll be sharing more about this passion in future blog posts. Stay tuned.

A sample of what we love about staying healthy: Hiking at Bell Rock, Sedona, last January.

Stay Sexy ~ Feed your Fantasies!

January 18, 2015 by Adriana Kraft

Lacy-lips-smallDo you ever fantasize about having sex with multiple partners? Two hot guys, maybe, or maybe a sexy guy and a hot woman? Or swapping with another couple and enjoying a foursome? If so, read on!

The-Ultimate-Guide-to-Sex-Over-Fifty-200x300I’m devouring Joan Price’s latest book, The Ultimate Guide to Sex Over Fifty, and hope to post a review in another week or two. Meantime I ran across the following marvelous quote from writer/activist Carol Queen in its pages:

“Sex with many people is actually the most functional form of sex education for many in our culture. In a society that doesn’t value or take seriously the responsibility to teach about pleasure, many of us still derive our most profound understandings about our own sexuality on the hoof, in the street, on the prowl.”

The first thing that struck me as I read those words was that it’s what so many swingers tell us about the impact of swinging on their sex lives with each other. You might think that people who turn to swinging are sexually savvy and experienced already, and many are, but even so, in addition to the thrill of multiple partners, many are surprised that they discover nuances about their own sexuality and each other’s they weren’t aware of. Even more, they learn new activities, toys, and positions they haven’t thought to try.

We’ve spoken with swingers ranging from their thirties to their eighties. Their reasons for getting involved with the lifestyle vary, but almost universally, they report reaping so much more benefit than they ever anticipated, and they’re grateful (especially as they age) for the extra boost to their libidos and their enjoyment.

We began writing our Swinging Games series for similar reasons. In it, we follow a mid-life empty-nest baby-boomer couple who reach the decision to check out the swing lifestyle because the wife thinks she might be bisexual, but doesn’t want to leave her husband out of her sexual exploration. Thirteen installments later, they are still going strong, and you can check out the series at this LINK to see if it can add to your fantasies.

Meanwhile Stay Sexy, and have fun!

Slow Dancing, Take 2 #MySexySaturday #MFRWAuthor

January 17, 2015 by Adriana Kraft

Welcome to My Sexy Saturday, where authors share seven words, sentences, or paragraphs from their work to entertain you and entice you into wanting more!

Detour-Ahead-Ebook-webDetour Ahead (Riders Up, Book Four)

Threatened race horses, city slicker attorney, sexy California wrangler—what can possibly go wrong?

Last week we caught Scott and Traci in a slow dance – here’s a peek at what Scott’s feeling as they dance:

EXCERPT

Scott filled his lungs with Traci’s fresh scent. He wanted to be gentle with her, but her body filled his empty spaces so well that he lost track of his intent. He pressed her body to his as if afraid they wouldn’t have another time like this. Scott closed his eyes and swayed with the music, rubbing his nose and jaw through her ebony hair. It was like touching silk. He breathed deeply and her scent caressed his soul. She wasn’t supposed to have such a powerful impact on him; he was here to help her overcome her past, not to succumb to her innate charm. He was cowboy and she was big city. Don’t forget that. Enjoy. Please her. But don’t forget.

Through how many songs had they clung to each other? He couldn’t remember. They moved hardly at all. There was a waiting and a longing that palpated between them. Scott couldn’t wait any longer.

He lightly kissed Traci’s forehead. She didn’t retreat. Instead, he heard the softest of moans come from her lips. It was the best music he’d heard all evening.

BLURB

Hot-shot Chicago prosecuting attorney Traci Steele works tirelessly keeping rapists off the street to prevent other women from suffering the hell she’s endured, so she resists her friends’ insistence that she take a two month R&R in their California Live Oak condo—until they persuade her to help their rancher friend as a private investigator.

Though he runs the stables at Live Oak, well-muscled mustached wrangler Scott McCord much prefers working with the race horses he trains at his ranch, and he can’t believe his old friends have sent a greenhorn female to help him with horse troubles.

The improbable dance between this mismatched pair barely fits in around the escalating suspense of whoever’s after Scott’s horses. Traci is as tenacious in her sleuthing as she is terrified about her inability to ever love a man. Can Scott succeed in gentling her – like he does his horses – before she flees in panic?

If You’re Lucky…

January 11, 2015 by Adriana Kraft

The-Ultimate-Guide-to-Sex-Over-Fifty-200x300“If you’re lucky, the question of sex for seniors will be relevant to your life, sooner or later.” This is my favorite line from Charlie Glickman’s review of Joan Price’s brand new book, The Ultimate Guide to Sex Over Fifty.

Um, yes. Hubs and I are definitely over fifty, and we do consider ourselves extremely lucky. We write spicy romantic suspense and erotic romance together because we love it, we want to stay sexually active as we grow older (and we hope to grow lots older), and we’d like to entice others to do the same.

So we’re thrilled to see this new book out from Joan Price, whom we’ve been following for a few years, and eager to have it in our hands. It’s available for pre-order now at Amazon and will be released January 13.

While you’re waiting for it, Charlie Glickman’s review is definitely worth a read. Oh, you’re not nearly fifty yet, so this doesn’t apply to you? Here’s what he has to say about that: “If you spend the first fifty years of your life ignoring the fact that older folks have sex, or worse, if you make it into a joke or a target of mockery, you’re setting yourself up for a really rough time when you get to that age.”

Here’s to a long life and happiness, all the way around!

Slow Dancing #MySexySaturday

January 10, 2015 by Adriana Kraft

Welcome to another round of My Sexy Saturday, where authors offer seven words, sentences, or paragraphs from their work for your entertainment. Be sure to click on the graphic at the bottom of the page and visit the other participants.

This week’s theme is My Sexy New Year, celebrating new beginnings. Having a relationship with a man – any man – is definitely a new beginning for Traci Steele. She has yet to learn that the transition from victim to survivor is a choice within her power to make. We think maybe Scott McCord, with his gentle patient approach, might just be the key to help her make this discovery. Even so, it’s a long journey, with many twists and turns.

EXCERPT

Detour-Ahead-Ebook-web“Do you have any CDs for that CD player over there?” Scott asked.

“Some.”

“Anything slow we could dance to?”

Traci went into the bedroom and rummaged through her CD case. Her fingers felt like five thumbs. Finding what she wanted, she put it in the player, and soft music filled the room.

“Much better,” Scott said, rising from the couch and extending his hands to her.

She kicked off her flats and stepped into his arms. Was she in a trance? He held her close; her breasts nestled against his chest. It felt good. It felt right. Their feet hardly moved. They swayed to the music. There was no hurry.

She wanted to taste and savor the moment. The press of her body against his, his aftershave enticing her senses, his hand resting on her lower backside. Intimate and right. She didn’t want him to let go. Ever.
