Celtic Passion, Roman Power – Which will Prevail? #NewRelease #EroticRomance #Historical @ExtasyBooks

May 5, 2023 by Adriana Kraft

OUT NOW!

Seren’s Story is a two book erotic romance series. Book One, the historical short story Two Seeds are Sown, has just been released at Extasy Books, and Book Two, the contemporary novel From Beyond the Curtain, will follow in July.

Two Seeds are Sown is set in Wales during the Roman occupation. When the Romans invaded the British Isles, they began in the south and reached what is now Wales in about 48 AD. The wild tribes they encountered there presented some of the fiercest early opposition. Welsh folklore has immortalized one of the last Welsh resistors to yield to the Romans: Caractacus (or Caradoc), the leader of the Silures tribe, who lived in southeast Wales in the lowlands along the northern shore of the Bristol Channel.

To subdue the indigenous Welsh peoples, the Romans established forts, built roads so they could rapidly move their armies, and developed one town. Venta Silurum was located in what is now Caerwent, a mile or two off the channel and roughly 8 miles east of Newport. Caractacus himself was ultimately captured and taken to Rome, where he died in 54 AD.

We’ve found nothing to indicate whether or not Caractacus left children behind in Wales, but we’ve chosen to believe he must have done so. In our fictional account, Seren’s father is a local Silures chieftain directly descended from Caractacus, who lived over a century earlier. Seren has inherited not only her father’s standing and his fierce determination, but also several psychic powers from her grandmother, including divination, the ability to time travel, and metaphysical communication with others. These characteristics and talents form the kernel from which our story has grown.

Danger signals flared in Seren’s brain… #MFRWHooks #EroticRomance @ExtasyBooks

Off and on for the last several months, I’ve been devouring fiction set in the first four centuries AD, focused on the Celtic peoples and the Roman occupation of Britain. So it’s probably no accident that sometime last winter, my husband and I unearthed a plot fragment we’d played with and never followed up on: What if a young Welsh tribeswoman was captured by a high-ranking Roman soldier to be a courtesan for him and his wife, and was separated forever from her only child, a daughter? And then, what if it’s her task across time to re-unite her family through bringing together a descendant of her daughter and a descendant of her later Roman son?

Seren’s Story, a two book erotic romance series, is the result. Book One, Two Seeds are Sown, releases this Friday at Extasy Books, and Book Two, From Beyond the Curtain, will follow in July.

EXCERPT

Set Up: It’s been three days of arduous travel since Seren was captured, but she now stands in a lavish stone bath with the wife of her captor…

Once they’d stepped out of the water and toweled off, Livia pointed out two gold bands on the nearby shelf. “You will wear the smaller bracelet around your left ankle and the larger band around your throat. As you can see, they are beautifully adorned with our family crest. No one of Roman descent will dare touch you without my consent.”

Seren stood perfectly still as the woman attached the bracelet and the torc.

Livia grinned at her. “You could waste hours trying to get them off—hours you should be thinking about me. Now then, for the time being, you will not be given your own room. You will either sleep with me, with my husband, Scipio, or with both of us. Understand?”

Seren nodded. She listened carefully to her fate. Escape would be difficult. And she couldn’t even try until she’d earned a degree of trust.

“You will have no household duties,” Livia continued, “other than to tend to my boudoir and baths. I will instruct you further in our language to improve your fluency. I will teach you board games, more of Roman culture—you will want to blend in when we return to Rome. And of course I will teach you more of the refined arts of lovemaking. I would also like to hear about your mystic religion. It sounds so fanciful compared to ours, but I have an eager mind.”

Danger signals flared in Seren’s brain, but she kept her face carefully schooled. Sharing a few harmless tidbits might be a way to humor her captor and perhaps build trust. But what did Livia already know? She and her husband weren’t far off the mark—Seren knew for a fact she was special.

Seren’s father had made this clear. She’d been given special training as a woman because of her gifts. Her father had taught her that long before her time, the Romans had massacred all the Druids they could find, but her father was not her only teacher. From her grandmother she’d learned that the Romans would never succeed in stamping out the magical gifts—the powers that often passed from mother to daughter or to granddaughter, or rarely, to sons. The powers Seren’s grandmother had passed to her. Seren vowed never to let Livia know any of this.

BLURB

Resist, or yield? The choice is not Seren’s alone.

Late in the Roman occupation of Britain, a young Welsh tribeswoman is hand selected and captured to serve as a courtesan to a Roman Legate and his wife. Escape proves impossible, but Seren is never completely abandoned. Her grandmother’s cryptic prophecy through their psychic connection seals her fate—it will be Seren’s lot to yield. The words both relieve Seren and further mystify her: You must find pleasure in your present life. Fulfillment will not be yours until after you cross into the next.

Set Up: Barely awake the morning after a big blowup with Harry, Melissa answers her door wearing only her bathrobe. But it isn’t Harry – it’s the Center’s other co-director.

EXCERPT

Melissa couldn’t prevent a frown. “Why are you here, Claire?”

Appearing a little sheepish, Claire said, “I guess telling you I was in the neighborhood will hardly work, because I haven’t been to Brooklyn since I was a little girl. And that was a ways back.”

Melissa couldn’t suppress a giggle. “So you’re one of those Manhattan ethnocentrics.”

“Uh-huh.”

Melissa clasped her hands at her waist, resolved to wait out the ensuing silence.

“Okay.” Claire inhaled and exhaled before continuing. “I want you to sketch me.”

“Really? I’m honored.” Melissa’s pulse quickened. Her fingers ached. It would be good to work again. This might be exactly what she needed.

“You’ll do it?”

“Of course. Why wouldn’t I?”

“I’m talking about one of your tasteful erotic type drawings. Me in the nude.”

“I didn’t think you’d want to be sketched wearing a business suit.”

“I am fifty-seven.”

Melissa scowled. “Do I care? Maybe we can come up with something that will inspire fifty and sixty-year-olds to pose for erotic drawings. Let me change and I’ll be right back.”

“No,” Claire said, grabbing her hand. She hesitated momentarily before adding, “I don’t want to wait. Surely, you must sketch or paint from time to time wearing only a robe.”

“Of course.” Melissa tugged on Claire’s hand. “Come on, and I’ll show you my studio.

“As you can see, it’s not much,” she said, leading Claire into her favorite room. “A couch, easy chair, desk, which is my workspace and which also substitutes as a prop sometimes. And of course lots of art supplies.”

“And beautiful sketches and paintings,” Claire intoned, as if they were standing in a church or a museum. “You are extremely talented. We really must set up a show for you through the Center.”

“So do you have a particular medium or pose in mind?”

“No, you’re the artist. I see you have a music center.” She reached into her shopping bag, withdrew a CD, and handed it to Melissa. “Do you mind playing this? It’s one of my favorites from the seventies. It will embolden me.”

“No problem. Though I would never have guessed you needed anything to strengthen your resolve.” Melissa peeked at the label. “Helen Reddy. I like her stuff.”

“Thought maybe it’d be too old-fashioned for you. I’m glad you like it. She throbs with heat.”

BLURB

Her passion smolders. Will it ignite?

When art student Melissa Hopkins finally unpacks the two boxes her Aunt Phoebe left for her and sees Phoebe’s black and white photos, it’s like opening Pandora’s Box. A simple quest to find a new job morphs into an about face—not just in her art, but in her career and personal life. Short on funds now that her graduate stipend is ending, she applies to work where Aunt Phoebe once worked: a center for sexuality and sex studies.

Sworn off women after a disastrous relationship, Center Director Harry Gage ignores the danger signals and hires the striking young woman who reminds him of his former lover. Her air of innocence will captivate center viewers, so he’s sure she’ll be a hit on camera. What he’s not prepared for is how she pierces his heart.

When the sparks flare up, is it love or just sex—and what must each of them risk to find out?

A pair of delightful reads! Books by @TinaDonahue and @JessSavage11 #EroticRomance #BookReview

April 24, 2023 by Adriana Kraft

Love reading about threesomes? Me too, and most of the stories my husband and I write together under this pen name feature threesomes (and even a few more-somes).

But I’m also an avid reader, and recently I’ve read a pair of threesome stories that you won’t want to miss.

Ever egalitarian, I will let you know ahead of time that one of these stories features two men and one woman, and the other, two women and one man. Since they’re both romances, I’m giving nothing away by saying there’s a happy ending for all – including the reader!

Anything you Want by Tina Donahue

MFM Erotic Romance

REVIEW: Like many writers, I’m basically a shy nerd, and best selling author Tina Donahue confesses to the same in her bio. Her latest release, Anything You Want, features three shy nerds in a sumptuous and luscious story set in a tropical hedonistic resort. Oh, and two of those shy nerds? They’re tall, handsome, and billionaires. A completely yummy why-choose MFM romp – and there’s chocolate.

Good in the Zak by Jess Savage

MFF Erotic Romance

REVIEW: Picture this: you’ve had a massive crush on your brother’s best friend as long as you can remember, but he’s been off limits because he’s practically family. Now you’ve just finished college, that friend is a TV star, he just got married, and he hires you to keep an eye on his new wife while he’s on a shoot in Canada and she’s on the Mexican Riviera in a shoot of her own.

And you fall in love with the wife.

A recipe for disaster? Or a recipe for a delicious fast-paced romcom that somehow creates a happy ending for all concerned?

I fell in love with this book and will definitely be back for more from author Jess Savage. The perfect amount of angst, craziness, steam, conflict, deceit, and surprise.

Blurb

Luca Moretti is grumpy—and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

Wrangling six—Italian—siblings and the family’s restaurants would make anyone cranky. But when his mother requests that he save his aunt’s struggling Italian deli in charming, picturesque Indigo Bay, he has no idea that he’s about to overdose on sweetness.

Luca expected his aunt’s stubbornness—she’s a Moretti, isn’t she?—and his cousin’s resistance to actual work, but the last thing he expected is the absolute ball of sunshine known as Oliver Billings.

Oliver loves Indigo Bay. Loves owning his small artisan bakery, Sweetie Pie’s. Helps nice old ladies cross the street. Even volunteers for the local Sweethearts Festival.

Sweet isn’t really Luca’s style, or so he thinks. But when he discovers Oliver can be a little spicy too, his prickly exterior begins to crumble like a well-baked crust.

If Luca isn’t careful, he’s going to develop a taste for sweets—and a particular baker’s pie.

And one or two servings will never be enough.

Excerpt

“Ah, they sent the fixer out.” Oliver sounded amused again. “I can see it. You’re definitely more of a fixer than a baker.”

Luca shrugged. “I run my family’s four restaurants. They do not typically need fixing.” Don’t be arrogant, don’t be arrogant. “But Nonna’s Deli here, it is . . .an investment of ours. Not directly under my control. So I’m not here to order changes but to . . .suggest them. Nicely.”

“Which is how they’ve managed to underperform all these years,” Oliver said with another of those smirks. They shouldn’t have been so frustratingly attractive. But Luca felt them deep down, stirring him up in a way he hadn’t expected.

Oliver was definitely a very attractive package, one he’d love to unwrap.

Would he be as sweet as promised? Or a little salty too? Maybe even a bit spicy?

“You could say that,” Luca said. “Part of the proposed changes are aligning the menu more directly with our other restaurants. And that includes fresh bread, daily. Nonna’s here doesn’t have the staff, the resources, or the equipment to do this, but you do.”

“I do,” Oliver conceded. “My schedule’s already pretty packed, but I suppose I could fit you in. French bread? Sourdough bread? Focaccia? Rolls? Loaves? How many dozen per day?”

Luca liked every part of Oliver he’d seen so far. He was charming and sweet and undeniably adorable. Then there was how goddamned sexy he was when he got down to business.

“I’m not sure yet,” Luca said. “In fact, they may not need any at all. Giana and Enzo have my proposed changes, but they are not required to accept all of them—or any of them, actually.”

“You must hate that, not being able to actually impose your control over them.” Oliver said it casually, like a true control-freak business owner, like he understood.

How did Oliver know how much he hated it? Was it that obvious? Was it written all over his face that he’d love nothing more than to march down the street and tell Giana and Enzo exactly what to do?

“Yes,” Luca admitted.

“Nonna’s isn’t just an Italian affectation, is it? Was there actually a Nonna?” Oliver asked.

“My grandmother.”

“Ah, well, there you go.” Oliver leaned back, grinning. Luca wanted to chase him, but he stayed on his side of the table, with what he thought was pretty admirable restraint.

“So why does Enzo dislike you so much?” Luca asked.

“That’s a long story. And I’ve got to tend to these rolls. If they overproof . . .” Oliver shrugged. “I’m a perfectionist, what can I say?”

“If he supposedly turns against you every chance he gets, what’s he going to say,” Luca said, deploying the most persuasive smile in his arsenal, “when he finds out I want to hire you to bake our bread? I need the insider info. Need to be able to convince him it’s a good idea.”

“It’s not going to help you, and you’re not going to like it,” Oliver said. “Though, you sorta look like there’s plenty of things you don’t like.”

But I like you. “You’re not wrong.” It was hard to admit it, but there it was. He was particular, okay? Particular and more than a little arrogant about his particularity.

Maybe it was good Oliver knew that now, even if all they ever had was a date and a night—though even that was still up in the air.

“We dated,” Oliver said. His watch beeped, and he stood, just as he’d left Luca speechless for another long moment. “Well,” he amended, with a cute little shrug. “It was one date. But still. He wanted to continue. I did not. And that’s the story.”

“That wasn’t a very long story,” Luca managed, and was he trailing after Oliver in his own bakery like a lost puppy looking for his owner? Yes, he was, a little.

This was good, for the moment… #SnippetSunday #SnipSun #EroticRomance

It’s New York – Broadway beckons…

Welcome to Snippet Sunday – ten sentences from all your favorite romance authors! You’ll find them all at this Facebook Group every Sunday:

EXCERPT

Set Up: Today’s snippet immediately follows last week’s, in Meg’s thoughts. Um, I might have forgotten to mention where she is, but you’ll figure it out…

Drifting, Meg wondered how many other women Zach had brought to Josie. Had she been able to work miracles for them, too?

Don’t be a little girl. If there was to be a miracle in her career, it would happen because of hard work and dedication. Even then, there were no guarantees.

But she had her chance now, and she’d always be grateful to Zach for helping her snag that opportunity. He groaned beneath her, and his large hands cradled her rear, keeping them joined.

This was good, for the moment. She rubbed her nose across his chest hair, then settled her cheek against him and let sleep have its way.

BLURB

It’s New York! Broadway beckons, but Meg has more fun keeping an erotic triangle going with her current flame, Zach Cullen, and her drama coach, Josie Patrice.

Zachary Cullen has ignored Josette Patrice’s overtures for years, but she agrees to take on his latest protégé-slash-arm-candy Meghan Keenan in her off-Broadway workshop theater. Though the girl has incredible talent, Josie would stake her reputation on that little thing being a switch-hitter, like herself, and she doesn’t want Zach to be duped. Josie sets out to seduce Meg and expose her for what she is, but all bets are off when Meg turns the tables on Josie to hook her up with Zach.
