A Ghostly Encounter #MFRWSteam #EroticRomance #LGBTQ

November 8, 2022 by Adriana Kraft

Welcome to the MFRW  Steam Hop,
where the authors of Marketing for Romance Writers
entice you with steamy excerpts from their erotic romance stories.

Scroll to the end for more of this week’s tempting excerpts

Today’s ghosts surfaced a little late for Halloween – but we’re only a week out from All Soul’s day, so no harm.

BLURB

One man, two women and two ghosts keep love’s fires burning through the deep chill of a North Woods winter—but which love will hold the key?

A tender ghost story and a sizzling erotic romance with a splash of BDSM, Mistress of Purgatory Point is also the deeply moving chronicle of the mid-life sexual awakening of a stoic widow who thought she’d already experienced her one allotted love.

Not quite fifty, recently widowed Martha Richards has just purchased the old sturdy house at the tip of Purgatory Point overlooking Minnesota’s Boundary Waters. She and her pastor husband often dreamed of retiring there on their summer canoe trips. Now, she welcomes the solitude and time to hone her jewelry-making craft.

Forest Ranger Dan Ford, her reticent neighbor to the south, thinks the aloof newcomer has no clue what it takes to survive North Woods winters. Reluctantly, he volunteers to help her prepare the place for the inevitable blizzards.

Martha is shocked when local shop owner Natalie Bjorg says her jewelry exudes erotic passion. Natalie doesn’t stop there, but explains that as the new Mistress of Purgatory Point, Martha now holds the key to release its two ghosts: Ben and Stella have been trapped between worlds for nearly a century, waiting for an owner of their home to discover a love that matches their own and set them free.

EXCERPT

Martha closed her eyes and welcomed the drifting sensations of dozing.

He’d have strong hands. She’d have soft hands. Dan’s fingers. Natalie’s fingers. As if from a distance, Martha recognized her own soft moans. Her loins ached. It was an old ache, yet a familiar ache.

Her nipples pebbled and strained against the flannel gown. Fingers brushed against her inner thigh. She squeezed her legs tightly together, trapping them.

Whose fingers? Hers? His? Natalie’s? She was dreaming. She knew she was. She had to be dreaming. She let herself sink farther into the darkness.

“That a girl,” came a soothing whisper penetrating her fuzzy brain. “You’re a passionate woman. Let it out. Cherish your passion. Let me help. Let me touch you.”

“Natalie?” Martha whispered, unable to awaken.

A soft chuckle answered. “Not this time. Maybe later, if you allow yourself. Now let me help you.”

The pressure of fingertips on her thigh matched the pressure building behind her loins. Her brow furrowed as another set of fingers caressed her taut nipples still protected by flannel. “Oh,” she moaned. She tensed and then relaxed. The fingers on her thigh slid upward to where she burned the hottest.

Martha bit down on her lower lip as a finger seeking more heat found it. She gasped and lurched up and down, helping to seat the intruder in her sex. “This can’t be happening,” she moaned, widening her thighs.

“But it is. You’re not pretending it isn’t, are you?”

Martha hesitated. The finger stopped its exploring. She shook her head in response to the question and to her overwhelming desire. She wasn’t even certain what she wanted, but she wanted it with her entire body.

One man, two women and two ghosts keep love’s fires burning through the deep chill of a North Woods winter—but which love will hold the key?

EXCERPT

Chapter One

“Aren’t you the new Mistress of Purgatory Point?”

Martha Richards tilted her head to the side and stared at her inquisitor. She’d never met the sprightly blonde, but then she’d only been in the combination book-and-craft store once before, to see if it seemed a worthwhile place to consign some jewelry pieces. Mistress of Purgatory Point. Really!

“I bought that property about a month ago,” Martha said in clipped tones. “I didn’t realize it came with a title.”

“Oh, it does,” the petite blonde bubbled, not in the least put off by the purposely cool response. “Oh, excuse me,” she said, smiling broadly, “I didn’t introduce myself. I’m Natalie Bjorg. I own this place.” She arched an eyebrow. “Well, I’m buying it from my parents, who moved to Florida over a year ago.”

Martha narrowed her eyes, “So you make decisions about what you will or won’t sell?”

“That’s right.” Natalie glanced at Martha’s shoulder bag. “Are you an artist?”

“I’m not sure I’d go that far.” Martha sighed. This was the hardest part of picking up her art again. Creating pieces, pouring her soul into them was one thing, but then she had to try and market them. “I do make jewelry from time to time, and I wondered if this shop might be interested in displaying them.”

“Come on over to my table,” Natalie said, pointing at one of four small round tables in a nook.

The intimacy of the nook surprised Martha. She could see it offered a pleasant place for customers to chat or read. So why were her palms sweating? Was she that anxious about her jewelry being rejected? There were several other shops in Ely that might work with her.

She scrutinized the shopkeeper as she pulled out a chair. Natalie Bjorg was hardly the kind of woman she’d expected to deal with when she’d entered the store, but if Natalie was the proprietor, she hardly had a choice. Natalie seemed rather young for the responsibility, though actually it was hard to determine the ages of women living year-round in Ely. Most of them spent so much time out on the Boundary Waters in the sun and wind or cross-country skiing in the winter that their tan skins made them appear ageless. “So you’re a native to the area?”

“Yep. Born and raised in Ely. Couldn’t imagine living any place else. Though I do want to travel more. Would you like some coffee? I don’t have the special blends, but I make good coffee.”

“Thanks. That would be nice.” Martha sighed softly, relaxing in spite of herself. How could she not, faced with such an infectious, energetic presence?

“So show me what you have,” Natalie said, after filling two coffee cups and pulling up a chair. “I am so pleased you came by. This is sort of our off season. Not much happens here until the snow flies.”

Holding her breath, Martha reached into her bag for a couple pieces wrapped in cloth. Carefully, she unwrapped the first piece, watching Natalie closely. The woman’s eyes rounded, and she gasped as soon as she saw the gold waxing moon pendant suspended from a circle.

“It’s beautiful!” Natalie exclaimed, with a hand at her throat. “You made that?”

“Of course.” Martha smiled. Why did people often seem so amazed by her creations? She pulled the cloth from the second piece, and again Natalie sat stunned. Martha caught herself grinning—probably the girl had seldom been without words.

“It’s so…so erotic. It’s absolutely stunning.”

What telltale signs had he seen? #8Sunday #MFRWAuthor #Polyamory

August 13, 2017 by Adriana Kraft

Welcome to Weekend Writing Warriors, where writers share an 8 to 10 sentence snippet of their writing on Sunday.  Be sure to visit other participants at http://www.wewriwa.com/  and read and comment on their #8sunday posts.

Spread the word: Twitter hashtag #8sunday

We’re continuing with a little backlist love. A few weeks ago we featured The Diary, which introduced Kate’s younger sister, Luci, as the diarist who sent her older sister on an erotic wild goose chase. Luci soon demanded her own story, and Writing Skin was the result.

Today’s ten sentences are taken from the erotic novel Luci writes during the book, “Watching.”

EXCERPT

Edie stared out the window of her north side apartment through the Monet raindrops trying to get her bearings. Her lover of three years had just told her that morning of a long held fantasy—he wanted to watch her make love to another woman.

Hugging herself, Edie thought she should be more shocked or offended. She’d never been with a woman. It wasn’t that she hadn’t thought about it or even had the opportunity; one of her best friends was bi and had talked openly about a liaison more than once, but she hadn’t been ready to take that leap.

How did Jake know she’d been having night time dreams about Angela lately? Had she talked in her sleep? Had he been watching her that closely? What telltale signs had he seen? More than one morning she’d awakened with aching, sticky loins

BLURB

What would it be like to be romanced by not one but two potential partners, simultaneously? Luci Parker has finally achieved the career of her dreams as an erotica author – but the only romance in her life these days is in the books she writes. Long attracted to both men and women, Luci despairs of ever finding just one person to settle down with.

Owners of a South Side Chicago bookstore, Chai and Frank Ferguson eagerly devour Luci’s books as fast as she can write them, and now they wonder if she might be the woman they’ve been looking for.

Frank is deeply in love with Chai but knows she’ll never be complete without a woman to love as well. Can he match the passion of not one but two exquisite and complicated women at the same time? Will Luci even want him? And if Chai truly falls in love with Luci, will there be room for him?

All three characters in this intense erotic love story wrestle with the meaning of love, lust and commitment as they struggle to find themselves—and each other.

Release Day! Seducing Cat #FFM #Menage #MFRWAuthor

May 26, 2017 by Adriana Kraft

Today’s the day! Seducing Cat, Book One in our Meghan’s Playhouse series, is now available at Extasy Books!

What could college English Professor Caitlin Shanahan
ever have in common with the brash carpenter Kurt Davis?
The sexy sprite Meghan Keenan, that’s what.

We’re thrilled Extasy Books is re-releasing this series, which has been unavailable for over four years. We started writing it as an erotic romp, but quickly learned all three characters insisted on having more meaning. Two of them already love sex, of course – Meg, and her swarthy lover, the carpenter.

Cat? She’s pretty much given up on sex – but then Meg, who rents a room from her, starts sunbathing in the nude. Who knew the feminine form had so much allure? Turns out all three characters have a lot to learn.

Meg’s only twenty as the series opens, and we had a fun time watching her mature and find her way as the series progresses. We think you’ll enjoy her adventures, and we’ve added a new adventure this time around, bringing the series to six books in all.

BLURB

Level headed English Professor Caitlin Shanahan has finally earned tenure and purchased the century-old two-story house of her dreams in the college town of Burntside, Wisconsin—at thirty-four, she’d better face facts: her future is teaching college and writing plays, not falling in love.  So why is she so drawn to foxy little hometown actress Meghan Keenan, who’s rented her upstairs apartment, or worse, to the girl’s gorgeous hunk of a lover Kurt Davis, a carpenter who’s never even been to college?

Twenty-year-old Meg has a plan. First she’ll seduce the reluctant professor, then she’ll share her sexual delights with both Cat and her brawny carpenter, and when she’s successfully brought them together, she can make her escape and explore what’s beyond the only town she’s ever lived in.

Kurt can’t stand the up-tight professor who’s hired him to build a gazebo and refurbish her old house—the house he wanted for himself. Even if Meg’s scheme succeeds, he knows Caitlin would never look at him twice.  No need to go there in his fantasies…

At Least She Had the Woman’s Attention… #MWTease #MFRWAuthor #LGBT

May 24, 2017 by Adriana Kraft

Welcome to MidWeek Tease, where authors share tempting snippets to tide you over till the weekend. A huge shout out to author Angelica Dawson for hosting our blog hop every week!

Coming to Extasy Books this Friday! Pre-Order HERE

What could college English Professor Caitlin Shanahan ever

The sexy sprite Meghan Keenan, that’s what.

BLURB

EXCERPT

Set Up: Meg has been suntanning in the nude…

Peering through shuttered eyelashes, Meg Keenan nearly purred. She’d seen the tall figure of Cat Shanahan leave the curtained window. Apparently the lanky redhead had no idea the sun struck the window in a way that showed her slim form off to nice advantage.

Meg snickered. Why else would she choose this particular time of day to come out onto the sundeck? Because the sun shining on the window exposed Cat to her view almost as much as she was exposed to Cat’s.

At least she had the woman’s attention. Meg closed her eyelids and exhaled slowly. Soon she’d have Cat’s body.

Stretching languidly, Meg smiled and sat up. Her plan was proceeding quite nicely. Kurt had been pissed she’d rented the professor’s upstairs apartment. Though Meg was quite comfortable being a townie, Kurt carried a chip on his shoulder about town-gown tensions. Was that part of why he’d never gone to college in spite of doing so well in high school? Instead, he and Jack Mobly had established a construction company. At twenty-four, Kurt had a certain amount of control over his life that Meg envied. He didn’t seem to care that there was a world outside Burntside, Wisconsin.

She, on the other hand, needed to see beyond the horizon. She hadn’t found her ticket out just yet, but she knew she’d find a way. Fortunately, they both knew that.

While she and Kurt had been lovers for two years, neither suffered under the illusion of any long-term commitments. She’d known him all her life. And they were very compatible lovers. What one partner didn’t think of, the other did, and being together meant they could enjoy their fascination with sex without having to deal with the meat market. Their relationship was one of convenience, yet quite satisfying.

But Meg was ready to leave Burntside, and she wanted Kurt to have something he didn’t even know he wanted. She wanted him to have Professor Caitlin Shanahan. And she’d given herself the assignment to make that happen.

Bisexual Invisibility

July 25, 2012 by Adriana Kraft

Okay, now THIS is scary. I follow blogger Mike Szymanski at the Bisexuality Examiner. I can’t remember quite how I found him in the first place – probably through the BiWriters group I belong to on Yahoo. But if I’d gone looking for him on a Google search, without that personal connection, I might never have found him. Did you know that when you start to search the term “bisexual” or “bisexuality,” the Google auto-complete function is blocked? This vastly reduces the number of hits you’re likely to get – making it appear there’s almost nothing out there on your topic.

He’s referencing a Huffington Post article by Faith Cheltenham, who’s done some research on this issue. As she points out, how many bisexual persons just looking for validation and affirmation will never find what they’re seeking because Google has blocked the auto-complete for searching the term bisexual? She offers data, and has some links to give Google some feedback. If you care about this issue, hop on over there and help fight bi invisibility.
