EXCERPT

Set Up By now, Melissa’s quite comfortable on camera, and Harry has been coaching her for a video on anal sex, which is new for her.  This scene takes place the evening after Melissa was quite certain she’d seen Harry spying on her in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, which you can read here: https://wp.me/p9O7pv-3dF.

Melissa picked up her cell phone for the sixth time and set it down beside her. She stretched her nude frame taut and wiggled her bottom, letting the butt plug tease her. She smiled. Could she become addicted to her plug? She’d jumped two sizes since Harry had worked with her.

Harry. She stared at her phone. He’d be pleased with her progress.

Had the sunlight and shadows been playing tricks in the gardens? She’d swear that was Harry on the hill in the gardens.

Would he be angry if she called him? She’d never done that.

Nor had he phoned her.

Which was more of a taboo—having a plug in her ass, or calling Harry?

She picked up the phone and punched in the number she’d memorized.

He answered on the fifth ring. “Hello.”

His voice sounded more throaty than usual. Had he been drinking? Perhaps remembering a lost love—or a woman he’d fled earlier in the day.

“Hello, Harry.”

“Oh, it’s you.”

It pleased her immensely that he recognized her voice and didn’t seem at all surprised she’d tracked him down in his lair. He didn’t sound overjoyed, but then she hadn’t expected he would.

“Aren’t you curious why I called?”

“I figured you’d get around to telling me.”

“I just wanted you to know that I’m lying here in bed with a sizeable butt plug buried in my ass.”

“Jesus. Damn it!”

She smiled at the sounds of papers rustling. “Did you spill something? Sorry if I startled you.”

“Don’t be. So it’s a sizeable plug?”

“Uh, huh. Probably bigger than Brad’s cock.”

“Bastard.” He hissed under his breath. “Sounds like you’re managing okay.”

“Oh, yeah. Though it was better when you were reassuring me. You were so sweet.”

“Sweet? Me? You must’ve been smoking something before that shoot.”

“I don’t do any of that stuff,” she huffed.

“I know. I’m sorry. So do you want to be reassured?”

She grinned at her mirror. “Uh huh.”

“How do I do that? You already have the plug in.”

“You’re right. What if I go one size larger? More the size of your cock.”

“Oh, baby, you do know how to get a guy’s attention.”

“Hold on, don’t go anywhere. I’ll remove this one.”

“Don’t worry. I’m not gonna run a marathon in the next few minutes.”

“There.” She sighed. “Now I’m ready for you. I mean the larger one. Are you ready to help me?”

“Yes, what do you want?”

“Well for starters, you could play with your cock for me.”

“You want phone sex?” he squeaked. “Isn’t that rather juvenile?”

“You’ve never had phone sex?”

“Never.”

“Then I definitely want to be your first. Hurry, Harry. I’m feeling empty. I need you filling my ass.”

On Tour: VICES/VIRTUES, by Beatrice De Soprantu @desoprontu #Women’s Fiction

April 10, 2023 by Adriana Kraft

Women’s Fiction

Date Published: July 14, 2019

“Simultaneously compelling, intriguing, and effortlessly entertaining read. De Soprontu imparts views on themes of poverty,  race, identity, strength, and deliverance, all tightly bound within this intricate psychological opera.” KIRKUS REVIEWS

“VICES/VIRTUES is a beautifully written, strikingly moving, look at
the interacting lives and diverse backgrounds of women in an unconventional
profession” Indie Reader

Cristela had a childhood shrouded in secrets. Ashamed of their
circumstances, her mother told lies and encouraged her daughter to do the same. As Cristela grew, she unraveled the lies, but found that deception is a hard habit to break. Now, as an adult, Cristela creates a secret alter ego as the dominatrix Mistress Clara.

By day, Cristela is a good-girl poster child. By night, Mistress Clara masters the hidden erotic realm of an S&M dungeon. With her knack for duplicity things should work smoothly except for one complication – friendship. The quirky array of fellow dominatrices at the dungeon are nothing like the stereotypes she expected. Divided between her affection for the girls at the dungeon and her desire to keep her fetish activities secret, Cristela fears her two worlds are colliding. Can Cristela break her history of deceit? In a world of vices and virtues, salvation isn’t something you find, it’s a path you make.

EXCERPT

Some of the Fugacious Femmes elicited a similar response. Paris, for example, she didn’t stay long but during the time she worked at the dungeon, she was hated and she knew it. I always imagined she must have had some tragic backstory that forced her to break the rules and incur the ire of everyone. In my mind she had been transformed into Fantine, the sympathetic prostitute from “Les Miserables.” I felt miles superior. Drug and calamity free, in my mind I floated above the others who were mired in misfortune. It was a fantasy I managed to maintain for a long time, until that night when I finally understood the truth. I wasn’t floating; I had fallen. I had created a secret life at the dungeon just so I could be ashamed of it. As a child, Griselda had burdened me with shameful secrets, but as an adult, I had done this to myself. The worst part was I hadn’t even been aware of it.

About the Author

Beatrice De Soprontu began writing at the age of four, when she scribbled on the walls with a crayon. Now an adult, she mostly scribbles on her home computer surrounded by her noisy children and their less noisy father. Born and raised in New York City, (which includes: Queens, Bronx, Brooklyn, maybe even Staten Island – a.k.a. the real New York and not the tourist trap that is Manhattan), she enthusiastically travels the world on a budget whenever she gets the chance.

They seemed much more suited together… #SnippetSunday #SnipSun #EroticRomance

April 9, 2023 by Adriana Kraft

It’s New York – Broadway beckons…

Welcome to Snippet Sunday – ten sentences from all your favorite romance authors! You’ll find them all at this Facebook Group every Sunday:

https://www.facebook.com/groups/SnippetSunday/

EXCERPT

Set up: They might have been talking about her, but now Meg’s curious about Zach and Josie…

While the acting classes were taxing, Meg thrived on working with Josette Patrice in the theater workshop. Josie had so much to offer. She’d been active onstage before turning to directing, and Meg knew enough to realize she was in the hands of an excellent teacher. Zach had reiterated that fact over and over, but in her gut, she knew it to be true. The woman’s sophistication nearly took her breath away. She carried herself with the kind of aloofness and pride that Meg hoped someday to emulate.

Meg had spied the animated conversation Josette and Zach were having that afternoon in the rear of the theater and wondered, not for the first time, about the odd relationship between the two. On the surface, they seemed much more suited together than herself and Zach. They had to be closer in age, and they must also share some sort of interest in the theater world. After all, Zach had brought her to Josette for the express purpose of helping her with her career.

BLURB

It’s New York! Broadway beckons, but Meg has more fun keeping an erotic triangle going with her current flame, Zach Cullen, and her drama coach, Josie Patrice.

Zachary Cullen has ignored Josette Patrice’s overtures for years, but she agrees to take on his latest protégé-slash-arm-candy Meghan Keenan in her off-Broadway workshop theater. Though the girl has incredible talent, Josie would stake her reputation on that little thing being a switch-hitter, like herself, and she doesn’t want Zach to be duped. Josie sets out to seduce Meg and expose her for what she is, but all bets are off when Meg turns the tables on Josie to hook her up with Zach.

My Review: #5Stars for the Lydiard Chronicles, by Elizabeth St. John @ElizStJohn #HistoricalFiction #UKHistory #KU

April 8, 2023 by Adriana Kraft

When you read historical fiction that’s anchored in real events, do you ever wonder where your own ancestors were at that point in time, what their role was, what they were doing? My husband and I each have UK and European ancestors, and we’ve been able to follow some of their lines back farther than we’d ever hoped. A distant relative traced one my husband’s lines all the way back to England’s Edward III, through Edward’s second son, John of Gaunt, and John’s mistress, Katherine Swynford (later his wife).

So when the two of us delve into books about UK royalty during the War of the Roses, the Tudor era, and beyond, we’re reading about (very) distant relatives, and yes, we wonder where our related ancestors were and how they fit in with those events.

MY REVIEW

When I downloaded The Lady of the Tower, by Elizabeth St. John, I didn’t know what to expect. I was immediately pulled into 17th century England. The opening lines bring us a woman entering the Tower of London, uncertain what will happen to her next. I feared for her and kept reading. You will, too.

It turns out that the Lady who looks to be in peril is Lucy St. John, a descendent of the St. John family who owned the Lydiard estate, now preserved as Lydiard Park, some 85 miles east of London. The author is a present day descendent of that same family.

In her three-book series, aptly named The Lydiard Chronicles, Elizabeth St. John traces four generations of family members who, as relatives of Elizabeth I, were close to that court and continued to be connected to royalty throughout the 17th century during the reigns of James I/VI, Charles I, and later Charles II. During the civil war and the Commonwealth era, family members took opposite sides, with sometimes tragic results.

The works are thoroughly researched, and the major events are historically accurate. The prose is so engaging and the details rich that I was compelled to stay in in the 17th century through all three books in her series. I didn’t want to set them down, and I know I will go back and re-read them.

Highly recommend.

Five Stars.

EXCERPT

Melissa stood and rotated her shoulders. She had to get out of her apartment. It was a beautiful day, and she didn’t want to spend it all inside.

She grabbed her keys and some cash and headed down the stairs to street level. She walked briskly, suddenly knowing where she wanted to be.

Shortly, she turned in at the entrance to the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens and slowed her pace, pausing to watch the ducks in the Japanese water garden. This was space for relaxing – for breathing deeply, soaking in colors and breezes and scents. The riot of spring blooms was long gone, and summer was at its peak. She headed for the Shakespeare Garden and was relieved to find a shady bench empty in a secluded corner. Daisies, black-eyed Susans, and daylilies formed a casual cluster in yellow, white, and orange beside the bench. Further off, some taller mauve blooms she couldn’t name were full of butterflies, and a curly-headed toddler ran up to them laughing gleefully. The child’s parents stood nearby, holding hands, happy, as if they had no care in the world.

Melissa shook off a wave of loneliness. She waited till the family left and headed across the broad open meadow toward the rock garden, stopping to watch more children playing tag and hiding behind shrubs and bushes. An artist had set up his easel next to a large, tall tree that had one out-of-place, low-slung branch reaching several yards straight out, parallel to the ground. She could easily imagine relaxing under the protective boughs, but she knew better than to disturb his scene or ask what he was seeing.

The hairs on the back of her neck prickled. She stopped and turned around. Nothing seemed out of place – the children were still running with abandon, lovers walked hand-in-hand stopping for brief kisses – there! A man stood on a distant knoll watching where she stood. A hat pulled low on his head served almost as a mask.

She cocked her head to the side. Harry? She jogged toward the small hill. The man turned and scurried over the rise. When she crested it, there was nothing but trees, bushes, and flowers. Not a single person was in the little glade.

Harry was really getting to her. Now she was seeing him where she knew he never would be. She laughed freely and headed back to her apartment. Harry probably never left Manhattan.

* * * *

Not looking back, Harry scampered toward his car, parked a couple blocks away. That was close. What would he have said if she’d spied him? He didn’t often hang out in Brooklyn – though that had been changing of late. Brooklyn seemed quaint compared to Manhattan, but it was where she lived.

What would Melissa have said if she’d caught up with him? Would she be pleased to know he’d followed her? Or would she be frightened?

He chuckled. He didn’t think she’d be frightened. Maybe mad as hell, but not frightened.

Blog Guest Daryl Devoré ~ Meet Ewen, hero of A Voice in the Air

April 6, 2023 by Adriana Kraft

Let’s chat about Ewen, Cadi’s love interest in the medieval fantasy romance – A Voice in the Air.

He’s a good-hearted lad, unhappy with his future as an assistant to his father – the village baker. A life of watching bread bake was not what he dreamed of.

He longed for adventure – fighting dragons, saving damsels, and drinking ale in the local pub with the knights.

Hoping to live his dream, he follows his liege to fight the trolls. The horror of the battle shattered his dreams. Captured and thrown into a deep dark cave, he awaits a hideous death. He thinks of Cadi – the beautiful barmaid who smiled at him when she served him an ale.

He wonders if she thinks about him as he does her. He often hid beneath the bridge and listened to her sing. He wanted to tell her that he liked her, but a squire has nothing to offer.

After nearly – accidentally – killing himself – he is rather accident prone- he is overjoyed to find Cadi, but horrified to learn she – a mere lass – was sent to rescue him.

When given the option to return home with Cadi or continue on with the knights – of course – he goes with the knights. Hs been given a new sword and horse – of course he must go off and face his destiny.

Shortly he realizes his mistake. He abandoned the lass who has his heart.

He turns back to find her and escort her safely home.

And that’s where the chaos begins. He is tricked by a witch, fooled by a beautiful vixen, imprisoned by a tree, nearly freezes to death and… is condemned to death.

Can Ewen outgrow his youthful foibles, save the day and declare his love to Cadi or is he forever condemned to be just a bumbling lad named Ewen?

Little excerpt

He felt the tremble of the ground as the darkness seemed to deepen. A loud grunt filled the cave with the lone word, “Fud.” It was the troll’s attempt to tell him his daily meal had arrived.

Sweeping up a handful of stones, he limped forward through the darkness to the place where the bread was tossed. A feeble bit of light made shapes just visible. Not seeing anything scurry about, he grabbed his meal, then edged back into the darkness.

As he ripped chunks off the loaf, Ewen let his mind wander. It always returned to one topic — Cadi. Did she know he loved her? He wanted to be near her. Being a squire to a knight kept him busy, and often as not, eventide found him asleep on a pile of hay in the stable.

On one joyous day, as he returned from an errand along the path over the river’s bridge, he heard her voice long before he found her hidden beneath the arch near the water. He’d almost jumped down to speak with her, but something inside warned him she wished to be alone. Was it the way she stood? Or her hood covering her face? Or simply because he was too… nervous… unsure? He’d stilled his urge to interrupt her and sat on the low stone edge of the bridge to listen.

Her voice filled him with a sense of peace. He relaxed so much he almost fell back off the bridge.

Blurb and Links

Leading an army of faeries and pixies into battle against mountain trolls was not what Cadi expected when she accepted the task of rescuing Ewen – the son of the Overseer of the Faeries.

Squire Ewen followed his liege into battle with a head full of romantic notions of knights, heroics, and damsels in distress. Being captured by a troll, thrown into a cave, and awaiting a hideous death was not how he had foreseen his adventure to play out.

Can Ewen stay out of trouble long enough for Cadi to rescue him? Will Cadi overcome her doubts and fears and bring her beloved Ewen home to Plucks Ridge?

Or will the petty evilness of The Scorned One defeat all and destroy the magickal realm?

If you love action, humour, quirky characters, and romance, then Daryl Devoré’s latest medieval fantasy romance – A Voice in the Air – is a must read.
