The Triple Crown races are now history, but they brought us an exciting first: The first woman horse trainer to ever win a Triple Crown race!
Our horse racing romantic suspense series features fictitious owners and trainers light years away from the prestigious Triple Crown races, but the trainer at the center of the series is the heroine of book one, Cassie’s Hope, so both of us have an extra reason to be thrilled for Arcangelo’s trainer, Jena Antonucci.
All four books in the series are still on sale for 99¢ each – sale ends June 15, so pick up your copy now!
EXCERPT
Set Up – today’s excerpt follows shortly after last week’s; Tracy is working with Ransom on a lunge line in the corral.
“Okay,” Scott said from the center of the corral, “you’re doing real fine from the left side, but remember we have to make sure he’s comfortable with you on his right side. So change sides and keep working on the walk-on and whoa commands and getting him to turn on his hind quarters.”
Traci did as instructed. She didn’t enjoy working from Ransom’s right side as much. It was her weaker side, given she was right-handed and now had to lead with her left. But they’d tried it okay yesterday. “Walk on,” she commanded, and Ransom responded by stepping off crisply. By the time they reached the far corner, he was leaning on her quite severely.
“Remember the bubble,” Scott said. “Give him a sharp elbow. Protect your space, Traci.”
Right. Elbow. She jabbed Ransom with her left elbow. He didn’t budge. She jabbed him again, harder. The colt moved away, leaving her space to walk comfortably beside him. She had reestablished her “bubble.” Scott had told her Ransom had to learn not to lean on her, whether they were working with him in the ring or grooming him. He would only grow bigger.

BLURB
Threatened race horses, city slicker attorney, sexy California wrangler—what can possibly go wrong?
Hot-shot Chicago prosecuting attorney Traci Steele works tirelessly keeping rapists off the street to prevent other women from suffering the hell she’s endured, so she resists her friends’ insistence that she take a two month R&R in their California Live Oak condo—until they persuade her to help their rancher friend as a private investigator.
Though he runs the stables at Live Oak, well-muscled mustached wrangler Scott McCord much prefers working with the racehorses he trains at his ranch, and he can’t believe his old friends have sent a greenhorn female to help him with horse troubles.
The improbable dance between this mismatched pair barely fits in around the escalating suspense of whoever’s after Scott’s horses. Traci is as tenacious in her sleuthing as she is terrified about her inability to ever love a man. Can Scott succeed in gentling her – like he does his horses – before she flees in panic?
