Meg’s Folly

Meghan’s Playhouse, Book Five

Our last four Hump Day Hooks have focused on the first four books in our Meghan’s Playhouse series. In case you forgot, Meg Keenan is a sprite of a woman who takes on Aphrodite’s role of bringing other couples together, up close and personal. As we got to know her through the series, we began to wonder if she’d ever have a happy ending of her own—and if so, just what it might look like!

We’re not giving away any secrets today, but here’s the blurb and an excerpt, with a little hint of an upcoming four-way ménage…

BLURB

When Meghan Keenan’s old flame Josh Hendricks unexpectedly shows up at the Summer Shakespeare Festival where she has a leading role, Meg has a brilliant inspiration: he’ll be perfect for Camila, the hot Latina who currently shares Meg’s bed. If Meg’s scheme works, she can continue to enjoy sexy escapades with both of them.

Josh has a different idea. He’s come to the Festival with one goal in mind: to marry Meg. Will Camila buy into the plan and help him spark Meg’s jealousy? Can Josh escape this tempting triangle unscathed? And if he does, can he claim his would-be bride before she flees in panic?

EXCERPT

My apologies for a longer-than-usual excerpt—since Meg’s bisexual, this seemed like an appropriate excerpt, given the historic hearings taking place in the U.S. Supreme Court this week.

Yawning, Meg glanced at the living room clock. It was well past midnight, hardly a late night for theater folks, but she knew Josh must still be on Eastern Time. They’d dissected his play about every which way possible. With his long legs crossed at the ankles, he slouched in the easy chair sitting across from the couch where she and Camila sat.

“What are you working on now?” Camila asked. “Or are you one of those superstitious writers who won’t talk about a work in progress?”

Meg knew Josh wouldn’t hesitate to talk about current work. Josh reveled in carrying on about writing—his own or others. Meg squeezed Camila’s fingers. She was pleased with how the girl responded to Josh’s presence. For his part, Josh engaged easily with both of them. She’d noticed his arousal pressing against his trousers several times. It felt as if she and Josh hadn’t been separated for so many months.

Josh smiled and shrugged. “I often bounce ideas off of people who appreciate the ins and outs of telling stories. I’m sort of between things right now. Of course, as you know, a writer has lots of plots floating at the same time. I’m considering a play that’s been percolating the last several months about the struggles bisexuals confront, not quite fitting in any world except their own.”

“That has a familiar personal ring,” Camila admitted. “Straights and gays think I’m either just playing around or can’t decide.”

Meg’s response was quick. “I haven’t felt particularly at sea because of my sexual orientation.”

Josh’s grin split his face. “Why would you? You’ve created your own network of like minded people.” Josh winked at Camila. “You must know that our Meg’s favorite role is that of matchmaker.”

“I’ve noticed.” Camila nibbled on Meg’s right ear. “She’s already failed with me.”

“Really?”

Meg glowered at Josh.

“Philip.”

“That rather uneasy fellow I met at the theater?”

Camila arched an eyebrow at Meg. “I didn’t see Philip tonight.”

“He was there.” Meg brushed a hand along Camila’s thigh. She’d been inching her short skirt higher for the past twenty minutes. From Josh’s look he must have a superior view of Camila’s satin v-string and the outlines of the treasure it barely concealed. “I told him we’ll be rather busy the next few days. He’ll be gone most of the week. I’ll take care of Philip. He’s been a good friend this summer.” Meg stuck her tongue out at Camila. “Who knows, if Josh sticks around long enough we may want a fourth.”

Camila’s eyes rounded as she shuddered. “Double the fun.”

“Or trouble,” Josh countered.

Hump Day Hook ~ Vegas Gambler #HDH #menage

Welcome to Hump Day Hook! Click HERE if you’re looking for the Spring is in the Air BlogHop.

Sometimes I think Vegas Gambler (Book Four) is my favorite in our Meghan’s Playhouse series. Maybe it’s because we’ve been staying in Las Vegas these last few weeks, or maybe it’s because I love how the theme of gaming and gambling underlies the entire plot, including the relationships as they shift and change. Hope you like it!

Just when Meg thinks she’ll heat up Tia and Tony’s relationship, Tia turns the tables to hook Meg up with Tony—but the real winner is the Vegas Gambler, Jack Hawthorne.

Romance Junkies 4.5 blue ribbons
an extremely sensual erotic romance.

BLURB

Fresh with success from a recent stint in a musical on the Las Vegas Strip, Meghan Keenan takes some time off to play with her current flame, Jack Hawthorne, professional poker player. She’s delighted to add her petite masseuse Tia Minh to the mix and even more thrilled when she learns Tia’s relationship with her boyfriend Tony Sanders is on the skids. It’s the perfect challenge! Tia has different ideas – she thinks Tony would be perfect for Meg, and she conspires to throw them together any way she can. Ever the gambler, Jack catches onto her game quickly and keeps the ruse going behind Meg’s back. Who knew his heart was up for grabs?

EXCERPT

“Jesus,” Jack grumbled, “she’s tiny.”

“Don’t worry,” Meg chuckled. “You’ll fit. She’s handled my strap-on easily enough. Let me help you.”

Tia blinked her eyes open to see the back of Meg’s head as she guided Jack’s shaft to her throbbing mound. Tia couldn’t contain a moan when the head of Jack’s cock penetrated her opening.

Meg turned to beam a smile at her. “He’s as good with his cock as he is with his tongue. Trust me.”

“You okay?” Jack asked, holding steady as he knelt between her thighs.

She nodded. “Don’t hold back on my account.” She rotated her pelvis to emphasize her point.

“Damn,” Jack said, looking down at their joining. “Here goes.”

Tia wanted to cry. She doubted any man had ever been so careful with her. But did he have any idea that by being so slow he was torturing her? She swallowed hard as he inched inward until he was buried in her depths. She smiled at his surprise. Was it her capacity to take all of him? Or maybe it was the heat of her inner core.

Becoming quite alert, Tia slid a hand between Meg’s thighs, parting them as she went. “Thanks for sharing him with me.”

Lucky in Love:

What does that mean to you? Do you think it happens in real life? What do you look for in a romance plot to feel satisfied that the characters are lucky in love when they finally arrive at their happy ending?

I do believe in being lucky in love in real life – I think it has happened to me. Of course, it’s never all just luck – I’d like a little credit for choosing well when we first got started! But experience in my first marriage (yes, hubs and I were both married and divorced before we met) taught me that just because two persons are compatible at one point in time doesn’t necessarily mean they will continue to grow in directions that bring them together.

So that’s where the luck comes in, at least a little. There’s work involved, too. Hubs and I have been married over thirty years. I never dreamed when our relationship began that we’d develop a career of co-writing erotic stories and seeing them published :). Where did that come from? Was it luck? Was it staying open to each other, finding new and interesting things to do together, keeping focused on learning and growing, keeping our sex life vibrant and active?

Especially that last one, actually! Anyone over fifty (yes, that’s us, and most of the rest of the baby boomer generation, by now!) knows it’s easy for sexual desire, arousal and activity to slow down in mid-life, what with changing hormones and (in our case) a house full of teenagers. You have to work at it to make sure the inertia doesn’t stop your sex life altogether. One of the options we chose was watching soft porn videos (typically created by women, for women) as part of our foreplay. Not only did that work, very nicely – it prompted us to start thinking about what kinds of plots and situations we’d like to see, what sorts of scenes turned us on the most.

It wasn’t long before we started writing them down – for ourselves, in the beginning, but then we started thinking: if we like these plots and scenes, perhaps we’re not the only ones. We started submitting them, and are thrilled (and yes, probably lucky) to now have twenty-nine erotic romance novels and novellas published, and two more under contract for release later this spring.

So yes, this St. Patrick’s Day weekend, I’m feeling very lucky in love, and happy to be sharing the wealth!

Here’s a peek at one of our baby boomer heroines who also turned out to be very lucky. We created a fictional Center for Sexuality and Sex Practices, based very loosely on some of the resources we turned to in our forties. We’ve turned several characters loose in the setting to see what they’d come up with. Here’s the Blurb and an Excerpt for Ripening Passion:

BLURB

Ripening PassionClaire Johnson’s dedication to sex—the cornerstone of her career—led her to found the Center for Sexuality and Sex Practices. Now in her fifties, she knows the Center must keep pace with the rapidly growing Baby Boomer market, so she agrees to go back on camera for a series on sex and aging. But work with her nemesis?

Former English Professor Max Wilson has championed the cause of the Center ever since his deceased wife sought the Center’s help to rekindle the nearly extinguished sexual flames of their relationship. He loves working on camera and welcomes the challenge to perform with the svelte but feisty temptress.

Sparks fly immediately on and off camera. Can either Claire or Max transform those sparks into a fire of sexual desire for their viewers? And if they succeed, what will happen when the movie’s over?

EXCERPT

“Don’t stare, but take a peek at the young couple at about two-o’clock braced against the tree making out. They do seem to enjoy kissing.”

Max looked, then nibbled Claire’s ear. “Who’s staring? You do have radar for lovers.”

“Cripes, she’s riding his knee. Oh my, a girl after my own heart. Max, she’s hanging onto his shoulder for dear life, but she’s not surrendering her perch on his thigh for anything.

“He’s looking around. Oops, I think he caught me watching. Ah.” Claire sighed. “She stopped, now they’re kissing wildly again.” Claire squeezed his fingers on her breast. “That girl had a damn good ride. Oh, to be young lovers again.”

“Being old lovers isn’t bad.” Max dipped his fingers under the fabric covering her breast.

“If that couple were to look across the way at us, they’d never guess I’m sitting here with my man caressing my nipple. And,” she turned and kissed his cheek, “that I’m wet as hell.”

“You could probably hump my knee and they wouldn’t even notice because they don’t expect it. That’s one advantage with age. People don’t expect us to be horny, or do outrageous things.”

“So true. And there’s something quite gratifying about defying their limited expectations. Perhaps we should go over and share our wisdom with the youngsters.”

Max shook his head. “I doubt they’d listen.
